Bodegas Valdebilla, S.L. is a recently incorporated family winery, of D.O.
Ribera del Duero, embracing the vast experience of many generations of the
Manso family - vine growers and winemakers for a very long time.
The result of their labours is "VALDELAGO" - a selection of very high quality
hand crafted wines.
Viticulture is an ancient tradition in Tubilla del Lago,
due to its geographical location - this is an extraordinary vine growing area, between the
rivers Gromejon and Duero, known also as "El Jardin de la Ribera", or the "Garden of the Ribera".
Only the best grapes are used in the elaboration of "VALDELAGO", and most of them coming from centenary vines.
The selection of the fruit is very rigorous. During the whole cycle,
and especially during the maturation period, the vines are regularly
checked and controlled - leaving only 3000 to 4000 Kg. of grapes per
hectare. The harvest is also done manually, and in small baskets, ensuring that
the fruit arrives to the winery in perfect condition. Once in the winery, the
grapes are once more re-selected, where the bunches of inferior quality are
discarded.
After de-stemming and gentle trading, the first pressings fall
(due to gravity)and avoiding any pumping to the holding tanks /deposits, where
the fermentation takes place under careful control of the winemaker.
Once the malolactic fermentation has concluded, the wine is transferred to the Aging Cellar,
or the " la nave de crianza", which is excavated way below the ground lever, to ensure
constant temperatures, and to begin the aging in new French oak barrels. Under the
constant guard of the winemaker, the wine, when ready, gets bottled and is stored for
posterior aging in the bottle.
We are more interested in Quality rather than Quantity, our "VALDELAGO" wines are served
to the most discerning wine aficionados in Spain and abroad, thanks to a personalized
delivery and distribution..
